Kempton Park is a city 11 kilometers northeast of South Africa's
biggest city and financial hub, Johannesburg, and falls within
the Ekurhuleni Municipality formerly known as the 'East Rand'.
This city is a relatively small city with a mixed population estimated
at somewhere between 400 000 and 800 000 people. It is mainly a residential
city with a strong industrial
centre in the districts of Isando, Spartan and Pomona. Due to the city's
close proximity to Johannesburg and reasonable proximity to the Capital
city Pretoria, it is the logical choice to host the Johannesburg
International Airport. This often means that tourists first encounters
with South Africa is the city of Kempton Park. Due to the Airport
and the Precinct that surrounds it, the city boasts a world class Casino
in Emperor's Palace (Formerly Caesars Palace), with conferencing facilities
and 3 hotels (of which one is a 5 star) and a several other international
brands of hotels. The city itself is laid back and dominated by middle
class inhabitants of all creeds. It is the mixture of a modern metropolis

Kempton Park is a large town on the East Rand in Gauteng, South
Africa. It was established in 1903 when Karl Wolff sub-divided a portion
of his Zuurfontein farm into residential stands and named the new village
Kempten after the Bavarian town of his birth. The name was anglicised
into Kempton Park. In 1952 the Jan Smuts Airport was built on land
next to the town. The airport's name was changed to Johannesburg International
Airport in the late 1990s. Kempton Park has been part of the
Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality since 2000. Kempton Park
is located north-east of Johannesburg and south of Pretoria
lying in the middle of the two cities.
